TREASURY CHAMBERS,

27 July 1910.
Sir,
In reply to Mr. Cox's letter of the 22nd instant (22554/1910), further with regard to the maintenance of the
British Postal Agencies in China, I a directed by the
Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury to state
for the information of the Earl of Crewe that it was not
Their intention to include the Lilitary Contribution as
part of the expenses of the Fostal Agencies.
The object which They had in view in making the proposal contained in Their letter of the 20th instant
was to maintain the Military Contribution on its present
footing, to which They attach great importance.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient Servent,
Manay
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.
